About Collaudantes venerantes
This setting of a Latin text is suitable for occasions when a choir would sing Office hymns. The SATB voices are used to praise Christ as the light and strength of hearts, singing with voices and alternating in song. The text then invokes the heavenly host, specifically Michael, and asks Christ for protection from evil, to be purified in body and soul, and to be restored to paradise through His mercy. The hymn concludes with praise to the Father, Christ, and the Paraclete, acknowledging the Holy Trinity as one God from everlasting.
