About Clorinda hai vinto
Orazio Vecchi was a prolific composer of the Italian Renaissance, known for his madrigals and other secular vocal music. Clorinda hai vinto is a fine example of this genre, written for SSATT voices. The text, in Italian, expresses a plea from a defeated lover to his cruel beloved. He asks her to spare him, lamenting that he might die in her beautiful breast. He implores her, if she feels any pity for the vanquished, not to take vengeance on a man lying wounded, but to grant him peace instead of continued war.
