About Christus resurgens
Giovanni Ceresini's Christus resurgens is a sacred motet for solo soprano and solo tenor, sung in Latin. The text, drawn from the Easter narrative, powerfully proclaims Christ's resurrection from the dead, asserting that death no longer holds dominion over him. It highlights his sacrifice for our sins and his subsequent resurrection for our justification, celebrating this triumph with an exultant Alleluia. The second part challenges disbelief, questioning how guards at the tomb could have lost the King, and demanding that doubters either return the buried Christ or worship him as risen, joining in the joyous proclamation of the Alleluia.
