THE NATIVITY OF OUR LORD. by Majeh Hilary K — Lyrics
About THE NATIVITY OF OUR LORD.
When the choir gathers for Mass during the Day on Christmas, the liturgy calls for a profound sense of joy. This setting of "The Nativity of Our Lord" provides exactly that, offering both the Responsorial Psalm and the Gospel Acclamation for the Christmas Day liturgy. The refrain, "All the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God," is a triumphant declaration that perfectly captures the arrival of the newborn King.
Majeh Hilary K has arranged the response in a bright, joyful solfa harmony that is easy for the congregation to pick up, while the verses are pointed for chanting. The verses walk through the familiar words of the psalmist, calling us to sing a new song and ring out our joy with harps and trumpets. It brings a festive spirit to the sanctuary right after the first reading.
Following the psalm verses, the sheet includes the Gospel Acclamation for the day. The text, "A hallowed day has dawned upon us," prepares the congregation to hear the Gospel of the Nativity. Having both the psalm and the acclamation on one sheet makes it incredibly practical for the choir loft during the busy Christmas morning Mass, keeping the flow of the Liturgy of the Word smooth and celebratory.
