About Child of the Manger

Carlotta Ferrari’s Child of the Manger is a moving Christmas anthem for SATB choir. The text seamlessly blends English and Latin, reflecting on the humility and divinity of Christ. It opens with the tender image of the infant Jesus in the manger, an outcast and stranger, yet the Lord of all. The choir will express the theological weight of Christ inheriting our transgressions, followed by the profound statement of his divine nature: "In principio erat verbum" (In the beginning was the Word). The piece progresses to celebrate his victory as a mighty redeemer and the fulfillment of prophecy, as angels behold him on his throne. This work offers a rich theological reflection suitable for Christmas services.
