Chi vuol veder un bosco

Orazio Vecchi was a leading composer of canzonette, a genre of light, secular Italian part-music popular in the late 16th century. This work is a fine example, written for SATB choir. The text expresses a lover's plight, comparing his heart to a dense wood pierced by Cupid's arrows, his eyes to two rivers of living water, and himself to a burning furnace.
