Ce n'est pas jeu

Pierre Passereau's lively secular chanson Ce n'est pas jeu is a witty setting of a French text that describes a domestic quarrel with comic effect. The lyrics tell of a wife beating her husband and calling him a cuckold, much to his distress. This SATB arrangement captures the light-hearted, almost farcical, nature of the original. It would be an excellent choice for a choir looking for entertaining and engaging repertoire, perhaps for a lighter moment in a concert programme or for a festival performance. The direct and humorous narrative makes it accessible and enjoyable for both performers and audience.
