Carceris ex umbra by Daniel Friderici — Lyrics
Carceris ex umbra Petrum puer expedit ales,
Cura Dei humano carcere maior erat.
About Carceris ex umbra
Daniel Friderici's Carceris ex umbra is a sacred motet for two sopranos. The Latin text recounts the miraculous liberation of Saint Peter from prison by an angel, highlighting God's power over human confinement. The music would serve well during the Easter season, perhaps as part of a service focusing on themes of deliverance and resurrection. The intimate scoring for SS allows for a clear and expressive delivery of the narrative, emphasizing the spiritual and divine intervention described in the lyrics.
