About Cara stelleta
Marcantonio Tornioli was an Italian composer of the late Renaissance and early Baroque periods. Cara stelleta is a secular madrigal for treble voices (SSB), sung in Italian. The text speaks of a beloved star, the heavens gazing upon it lovingly without shadow or veil, adorning itself and sighing, turning its lights towards the star's beautiful eyes. It is a delicate and intimate setting of a poetic text, typical of the Italian madrigal tradition.
