Cara mia Cetra

For an intimate gathering or a festive occasion, this Italian madrigal for SSATB voices by Alfonso Fontanelli offers a delightful exploration of Renaissance part-music. The text, a plea to a lyre to help the singer find his beloved, speaks of deep affection and yearning. The singer asks his lyre to sing out his passions, using its strings and his own heart to express his longing. He hopes that this heartfelt harmony might bring peace to his soul. Fontanelli’s setting masterfully captures the emotional arc of the poetry, creating a rich and expressive musical experience for both performers and listeners.
