Bone pastor

This motet is a heartfelt plea for spiritual guidance and sustenance. The Latin text addresses Jesus as the Good Shepherd and true Bread, imploring Him to nourish and protect the faithful. It asks that we may see the good things of the land of the living, and be made companions and co-heirs with the saints. Hilarión Eslava's setting for SATB choir captures the devotional nature of the text, offering a rich and resonant musical expression of faith. The composer was a significant figure in nineteenth-century Spanish sacred music, and this motet exemplifies the devotional spirit of the era.
