About Bone Jesu, verbum Patris a2
Alessandro Grandi, a composer of the early Baroque, wrote this motet for two sopranos. The text, in Latin, is a prayer to Jesus, the Word of the Father, the radiance of eternal glory, whom angels desire to behold. The singer implores Jesus to free their soul from dangers, now and always, and to guide the course of life towards Him. The intimate voicing for two sopranos is well-suited to the devotional nature of the text, creating a clear and direct plea.
