Blind Love was shooting by Giles Farnaby — Lyrics
About Blind Love was shooting
Giles Farnaby was a composer of madrigals and other English keyboard and vocal music in the late sixteenth and early seventeenth centuries. His secular part-songs often dealt with themes of love, both serious and light-hearted. Blind Love was shooting is a setting of a witty English text where the blind god of love accidentally kills his mother Venus's pet sparrow, only to be caught by Venus herself. This SATB madrigal captures the playful and slightly mischievous nature of the poem through its intricate vocal lines and lively rhythms. It is a fine example of the English madrigal tradition, offering a charming and engaging musical setting for a choir.
