Blessed are You, O Lord by Tim Risher — Lyrics
How shall young people cleanse their ways?
By taking heed thereto according to your word.
With my whole heart have I sought You;
O let me not wander from your commandments.
Your word have I hid in my heart,
that I might not sin against You.

About Blessed are You, O Lord
This devotional anthem for two-part choir (soprano and tenor) sets a thoughtful English text drawn from the Psalms. The music opens with a gentle interplay between the voices, reflecting the contemplative nature of the lyrics. The composer explores the relationship between seeking God and adhering to divine instruction, with musical lines that often mirror the upward-reaching petitions of the text. The piece builds towards moments of quiet assurance and joyful affirmation of faith, perfectly suited for services where introspection and spiritual growth are central themes.
