Berkley by Alexander Gillet — Lyrics
Psalmus David. Dominus regit me, et nihil mihi deerit:
in loco pascuae, ibi me collocavit. Super aquam refectionis educavit me;
animam meam convertit. Deduxit me super semitas justitiae propter nomen suum.

About Berkley
Alexander Gillet’s Berkley for SATB choir opens with a sense of gentle movement, the voices weaving together to create a serene and uplifting atmosphere. The music unfolds with clarity and warmth, drawing the listener into the comforting words of Psalm 23. The text, presented here in both Latin and English, offers a profound message of divine guidance and protection. The composer skillfully captures the psalm’s assurance of peace and provision, culminating in a powerful affirmation of steadfast love and the promise of dwelling in the house of the Lord. This setting is ideal for choirs seeking a piece that embodies both musical beauty and spiritual depth, suitable for services or concerts.
