Benedixisti, Domine

Michael Haller's Benedixisti, Domine is a sacred motet for two-part treble voices. The Latin text, taken from Psalm 85, speaks of God's blessing upon his land and the forgiveness of his people's sins. The composer sets these words with a flowing, devotional melodic style characteristic of 19th-century Catholic church music. The SA voicing allows for clear enunciation of the devotional text, creating a sound world that is both prayerful and uplifting. This motet offers a rich opportunity for young choirs to explore devotional Latin repertoire with accessible yet rewarding musical material.
