About Benedictus sit Deus, KV117

This setting of the Latin text Benedictus sit Deus uses the full SATB choir to open and close, framing a central aria. The text, a prayer of thanksgiving and praise, begins with a declaration of blessing upon God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit for His mercy. The solo voice then enters with a personal vow to enter God's house and offer thanks, before the choir returns with a jubilant call to all the earth to sing praise to God and declare His glory. It is a sacred motet, likely intended as an offertory hymn, and is scored for four-part choir and soloists.
