About Benedíctus Dóminus, Deus Israël
The text is the Benedíctus, the song of Zechariah from the Gospel of Luke, a morning canticle praising God for the promised redemption of Israel. Pomponio Nenna sets this familiar Latin text for SATB choir. His music reflects the joy and assurance expressed in the words, particularly in the anticipation of salvation and the remembrance of God's covenant. The setting is suitable for services where these themes are central, offering a reflective yet uplifting musical experience.
