Benedicta lilium

Gabrijel Plavec’s motet Benedicta lilium is a sacred setting for TTB choir. The Latin text is a Marian antiphon, asking for the intercession of the Virgin Mary, the lily of purity. The choir is asked to plead with her Son to overcome their exile after death and to be with the blessed. Plavec’s sensitive setting reflects the devotional nature of the text, creating an atmosphere of prayer and supplication. The music is suited for a cappella performance, offering choirs a beautiful and devotional piece of the Latin motet tradition.
