About Benedicta et venerabilis es
These words celebrate the Virgin Mary, hailing her as blessed and venerable, the mother of the Saviour. The text marvels that she was found to be the Mother of the Saviour without loss of her purity, and that the one whom the whole world cannot contain entered her womb made flesh. Franz Xaver Witt sets this Marian text for SATB choir. It is a piece of sacred music, suitable for liturgical use, part of the Mass propers.
