Benedicta es coelorum regina by Ivo de Vento — Lyrics
About Benedicta es coelorum regina
Ivo de Vento's Sacred motet, Benedicta es caelorum regina, is set for SATB choir in Latin. The text is a Marian antiphon, praising the Virgin Mary as Queen of Heaven, Lady of the World, and healer of the sick. It further addresses her as the Star of the Sea, a radiant star through whom the Sun of Justice, Christ, is made known. The motet highlights Mary's unique role as Mother of God, sanctified by God the Father for this purpose. The composer's setting vividly expresses the text's devotional narrative, from the Annunciation to Mary's intercessory role, pleading with her Son for the salvation of humanity and the granting of a heavenly kingdom.
