About Benedicite omnia opera

A magnificent eight-part setting for SATB.ATTB voices, Benedicite omnia opera Domini is a Latin motet by Benedetto Pallavicino. The text, drawn from the Book of Daniel, is a powerful call to all creation to praise God. It begins by asking all works of the Lord to bless the Lord, and specifically summons the heavens, angels, waters, powers, sun, moon, stars, rain, dew, winds, fire, heat, cold, frost, ice, snow, nights, days, light, darkness, lightning, and clouds to join in this universal hymn of adoration. Pallavicino’s rich choral writing would have been appropriate for a grand liturgical setting.
