Benedicam Domino by Melchior Franck — Lyrics

Benedicam Dominum in omni tempore; semper laus ejus in ore meo. Venite, filii; audite me: timorem Domini docebo vos.

About Benedicam Domino

This sacred motet for SSAT.ATTB voices is a powerful setting of a Latin text drawn from the Psalms. The music opens with a reference to King David's ruse to escape the Philistines, before moving into a profound declaration of praise and trust in the Lord. The composer Melchior Franck crafts a rich texture, with the eight parts offering opportunities for both grandeur and intimate expression. The text speaks of God's constant presence and deliverance, urging listeners to magnify God's name and to experience the joy of trusting in Him. It is a reflective piece, suitable for services or concerts where themes of divine protection and steadfast faith are explored.
