Benedic Domine by Nicolas de Wismes — Lyrics
Benedic Domine domum istam quam aedificavi nomini tuo. Venientium in locum istum exaudi preces in excelso solio gloriae tuae.
Audi preces quas fundit populus tuus coram te ut aperias oculos tuos super domum istam. Venientium in locum istum exaudi preces in excelso solio gloriae tuae.
About Benedic Domine
This sacred motet, Benedic Domine, is set for a substantial SAATTB choir. The Latin text is a plea for God's blessing on a newly built house dedicated to His name, asking that prayers be heard from His glorious throne for those who enter. The composer, Nicolas de Wismes, crafts a setting that emphasizes the solemnity and devotion of the petition. The rich six-part texture allows for a wide range of sonority and expressive possibilities, making this a compelling choice for a choir looking to present a profound and sonorous prayer.
