About Behold the great Creator makes
James Gibb’s Christmas carol for SATB voices reflects on the Incarnation. The English text marvels at the divine act of God becoming human, taking on flesh and lying as a weak infant in a cradle. It describes the astonishment of the world and the heavens, the arrival of angels and wise men, and the shepherds’ joyful response. The piece calls for all hearts and voices to join in celebrating this holy event, praising the God of peace and love.
