Behold That Star by Thomas W. Talley — Lyrics
Behold that star!
Behold that star up yonder!
Behold that star!
It is the star of Bethlehem.
There was no room found in the inn,
This is the star of Bethlehem,
For Him who was born free from sin.
This is the star of Bethlehem.

About Behold That Star
During the Christmas season, choirs can explore the rich tradition of African American spirituals with Thomas W. Talley's Behold That Star. This SATB arrangement in English captures the profound narrative of Christ's birth, focusing on the guiding star that led the Wise Men. The text movingly connects the star to Bethlehem and the prophecy of a Savior born free from sin. It evokes the wonder of the angelic announcement and the wise men's journey. Talley's setting offers a powerful and evocative musical interpretation of this sacred story, suitable for any festive choral program.
