About Behold and have regard
Thomas Clark’s Behold and have regard is a sacred anthem for SATB choir. It sets a Latin text from Psalm 134, also known as Psalm 133 in the Vulgate, a Canticum Graduum, or Song of Degrees. The text is an invitation to praise God, urging those who serve in the house of the Lord to lift their hands in praise by night and bless the Lord. It concludes with a blessing from Zion, invoking God as the maker of heaven and earth. The composer has also provided an English translation of the text, making it accessible to choirs singing in either language.
