Beautiful Savior by Fredrik Melius Christiansen — Lyrics
Beautiful Savior,
King of creation,
Son of God and Son of Man.
Truly I’d love thee,
Truly I’d serve thee,
Light of my soul, my joy, my crown.
Fair are the meadows,

About Beautiful Savior
This arrangement of the familiar hymn Beautiful Savior sets a text that praises Christ by comparing his spiritual beauty to the natural world. The composer contrasts the loveliness of meadows, woodlands, sunshine, and moonlight with the superior fairness and purity of Jesus, who is described as King of creation and Light of the soul. The SATB voicing allows for rich harmonic development of these devotional sentiments. This sacred motet offers a profound meditation on the divine nature of Christ, finding spiritual resonance in both the earthly and celestial realms. The English text is clear and direct in its adoration.
