About Beau le cristal
A delightful secular chanson from the Renaissance, Beau le cristal is perfect for a celebratory occasion or a moment of reflection. Orlando di Lasso sets a French poem that praises the beauty of precious materials and earthly achievements, ultimately declaring that peace alone surpasses them all in loveliness. The poem's message of peace and beauty is beautifully captured by di Lasso's four-part SATB setting, making it an ideal choice for choirs seeking engaging and musically rewarding repertoire that speaks to universal values. The clear text and appealing melody make it a joy to prepare and present.
