About Beati omnes
Horatio Colombano composed this setting of Psalm 127 (128), Beati omnes. The text, a Song of Degrees, is a prayer for blessing on the household and family, expressing the joy and security of those who fear the Lord and walk in His ways. It speaks of honest labour, a fruitful wife, flourishing children, and the promise of seeing one’s descendants and peace upon Israel. Colombano’s rich SATTB voicing is suited to the devotional nature of this Vespers Psalm. The Latin text is sung with clear, declamatory lines, conveying the earnestness and hope of the psalm's message.
