About Bancroft
This setting of Psalm 101 is for treble, solo bass, and STB choir, with a text that is partly in Latin and partly in English. The Latin opening, 'Misericordiam et judicium cantabo tibi, Domine', sets a tone of devotion, singing of mercy and judgement to God. The text then shifts to English, describing the singer's commitment to an upright life, shunning injustice and wickedness, and seeking the company of the faithful.
