Baci, sospiri e voci by Giovanni Battista Locatello — Lyrics
About Baci, sospiri e voci
Giovanni Battista Locatello was active in the late 16th and early 17th centuries. This four-part madrigal is a fine example of secular Italian part-music from the period. The text by Girolamo Casoni describes an intensely intimate moment between lovers, where kisses, sighs, and voices are mingled, and their lives seem to become one in shared ecstasy. Locatello’s music captures the heightened emotion of the words, with flowing lines and expressive harmonies that convey the sweetness and passion of the text. It is scored for SATB choir.
