Avvware Jiru We by Rownick Enebeli — Lyrics
About Avvware Jiru We
“Avvware Jiru We” is a vibrant Urhobo anthem of praise and thanksgiving dedicated to the Holy Trinity. The lyrics explicitly call the faithful to magnify the Father (Ose), the Son (Omo), and the Holy Spirit (Erhiofuafo), marveling at God's supreme power (ogaga) over all creation, the heavens, and the earth.
Musically, the piece is a lively, through-composed choral work filled with overlapping polyphony and rhythmic energy. Because of its joyful call to worship (“Imoni we jir' Oghene” — brethren, praise God) and its grand, festive tone, choirs often sing it during the Offertory procession or as a rousing Recessional hymn to conclude a celebration Mass.
