Our God is an Awesome God

"Our God is an Awesome God" is a bold, energetic worship anthem originally written by Rich Mullins, presented here in a four-part choral arrangement by Ehimanre Asuelinmen. The song is a striking declaration of God’s majesty, power, and righteous judgment. It contrasts the awe-inspiring might of the Creator—who commands thunder and lightning—with the profound mercy and grace He revealed at the cross.

In Nigerian parishes and fellowships, this piece is a favorite for youth masses, praise and worship sessions, and special thanksgiving services. The driving rhythm and layered vocal parts make it an engaging piece for the choir loft. The verses, led by a strong solo voice, recount biblical history from the garden of Eden to Sodom, building tension before releasing into the triumphant, familiar chorus.

Choirs enjoy the dynamic interplay between the soloist and the supporting voices, especially when the counter-melodies weave through the main theme. It is a song that naturally lifts the energy of the congregation, reminding everyone of the sheer scale of God's power and the depth of His love.
