Awesom God

"Awesome God" is a beloved contemporary worship anthem that has found a vibrant home in Nigerian choir lofts. This particular arrangement takes the driving energy of Rich Mullins' original song and sets it for four-part harmony, giving the choir a chance to declare the majesty and power of God with full, resonant voices.

The verses recount the sweeping story of salvation history—from the creation of light in the starry void to the expulsion from Eden, the judgment on Sodom, and the ultimate grace found at the cross. The arrangement builds tension through these narrative, rhythmic verses before releasing it into the soaring, familiar refrain: "Our God is an awesome God, He reigns from heaven above."

While often sung during general praise, this specific setting was crafted for a Carol of Nine Lessons in Abuja. It serves as a powerful concert piece or special choir arrangement, reminding the congregation of the awe-inspiring nature of the God they gather to worship.
