Awake and sing the song by Thomas Clark — Lyrics
Awake and sing the song
Of Moses and the Lamb;
Wake ev'ry heart and ev'ry tongue
To praise the Saviour's name.
Sing of his dying love;
Sing of his rising pow'r;
Sing how he intercedes above
For those whose sins he bore.
Sing, till we feel our hearts
Ascending with our tongues;

About Awake and sing the song
This hymn, Awake and sing the song, is ideal for Eastertide or general praise. The text calls for uninhibited celebration of Christ's resurrection and redemptive love. The SATB voicing allows for rich, full harmonies to express the exultant message. It encourages singers to not only praise with their voices but also to feel their hearts ascending with their songs, signifying a deep, heartfelt connection to the subject of their praise. The lyrics move from earthly celebration to the ultimate heavenly reunion, promising a joyful homecoming for believers led by Christ, the eternal King. This offers a profound and uplifting experience for both choir and congregation.
