Ave Sanguis Christi by Michael J. Drake, Jr. — Lyrics
About Ave Sanguis Christi
Ave Sanguis Christi evokes the profound imagery of Christ's blood, shed for our salvation. The Latin text poetically describes its flow during the Agony, the Flagellation, the Crowning with Thorns, and finally, its outpouring on the Cross. It is a powerful contemplation of Christ's sacrifice, calling the blood a river of mercy. This motet is set for two distinct vocal ensembles: SSA for women's voices and TTB for men's voices, offering flexibility for programming. It is a moving sacred work that allows for rich harmonic exploration.
