Ave Regina caelorum a 6

Andrea Rota’s Ave Regina caelorum for SAATTB voices unfolds with a rich, six-part texture, each vocal line carefully crafted to create a sonorous whole. The composer’s setting of this familiar Marian antiphon draws the listener into a devotional atmosphere. The Latin text praises the Queen of Heaven, addressing her as Lady of the Angels, and as the root and gate from which the world’s light sprang. The music echoes the text’s reverence and joy, particularly in the jubilant closing section, which implores the Virgin’s intercession for us all. This motet offers a substantial and rewarding challenge for a skilled choir, its intricate vocal writing both expressing and enhancing the sacred message.
