About Ave Maria op. 98 Nr. 2
The composer invites us to hear the evening bell and picture a boatman praying as the evening glow spreads. This German text, setting the familiar Ave Maria prayer, speaks of a pure maiden enthroned in clouds, to whom we commend our love, asking for peace and serenity. Written for two sopranos, this is an arrangement of a sacred song. The composer's skill in opera and sacred music shines through in this evocative setting.
