Ave Maria II

This rich motet for SSATB voices is ideal for services throughout the Marian year, from Advent through to Candlemas and the Assumption. Jeffrey Quick sets the familiar Ave Maria text, evoking a sense of reverence and wonder. The Latin text, proclaiming Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus, is treated with flowing melodic lines and sensitive harmonic language. The full five-part voicing allows for a wealth of colour and dynamic contrast, from moments of hushed devotion to soaring declarations of faith. It is a worthy addition to the sacred choral repertoire.
