About Ave Maria
Oscar Santos sets the familiar Latin text of the Ave Maria in this sacred motet for SATB choir. The music opens with a flowing texture, the voices entering to create a rich harmonic sound world. The composer crafts moments of gentle contemplation alongside more exultant passages, mirroring the text's devotional character. The interplay of the SATB voices is skillfully managed, building to moments of impressive sonority before receding into prayerful intimacy. This setting offers a satisfying and musically rewarding experience for both singers and listeners, a worthy addition to the repertoire of Marian motets.
