About Ave Maria
The familiar words of the Ave Maria, a Marian antiphon, are set here for a large choir, either SSATBB or SSATBarB. The text, a prayer to the Virgin Mary, expresses the joy and wonder of her divine motherhood. The composer Oliver Hayes crafts a setting that allows for rich harmonic colour and dynamic contrast, ideal for exploring the devotional message of the text. This substantial work offers a rewarding opportunity for experienced choirs to explore a deeply spiritual and sonically impressive setting of sacred Latin text.
