About Ave Maria
Joseph Joachim Raff, a prolific 19th-century composer, explored a wide range of genres. His SATB setting of Ave Maria, sung here in English, offers a gentle and devotional moment. While often associated with sacred texts, Raff's treatment of the Ave Maria text as a secular part-song allows for a contemplative atmosphere without specific liturgical context. This arrangement is ideal for choirs seeking a piece that is both accessible and emotionally resonant, providing a moment of reflection within a concert program.
