Aupres de vous

The composer Tielman Susato presents a poignant French chanson for three voices (STB). The text expresses a secret longing, with the singer's heart dwelling in sadness and receiving no comfort. The words speak of a suffering heart that wishes to die, driven by the pain it endures. This secular work, typical of Renaissance part-music, offers a direct and heartfelt emotional landscape, brought to life through the clear interplay of the STB vocal lines. Susato's skill in crafting engaging vocal textures is evident in this intimate setting of the expressive French lyric.
