About Audivi vocem angelorum
Leone Leoni's Audivi vocem angelorum paints a vivid sonic and visual scene, as described in the Book of Revelation. The text speaks of hearing a great voice, the sound of many angels, living creatures, and elders surrounding the throne. Their number is beyond counting, and they proclaim with mighty voices the divinity, strength, glory, and blessing of God. This powerful motet is written for two SATB choirs, creating a grand and resonant sound world that amplifies the ecstatic praise described in the text. It is a significant work of sacred music, offering a rich and complex setting of this awe-inspiring biblical passage.
