Assit herus

This setting for ATTB voices opens with a jubilant and dance-like energy, the voices weaving together in lively imitative passages. The text, a Latin hymn of praise, invokes Christ as king and God, asking him to remove death and sin from our lives with grace. The composer remains anonymous, but this ballade-style sacred music would have been well-suited to a devout yet festive occasion. The clear, homophonic declamation in the latter half brings a sense of resolute assurance and profound gratitude.
