Aspiciens a longe by Carlotta Ferrari — Lyrics
R Aspiciens a longe,
ecce video Dei potentiam venientem:
et nebulam totam terram regentem (tegentem in some sources).
† Ite obviam ei et dicite
‡ nuncia nobis si tu es ipse

About Aspiciens a longe
Carlotta Ferrari’s Aspiciens a longe is a sacred chant setting of a Latin text that powerfully depicts a vision of divine intervention. The lyrics speak of seeing God's power approaching, a cloud enveloping the earth, and a call to announce the arrival of the ruler of Israel. The music then transitions to a plea for God to stir his power and come to save his people, concluding with a traditional Gloria Patri. This piece is scored for unison voices, making it accessible for a variety of choral settings and suitable for liturgical contexts where a clear, resonant delivery of the text is desired.
