Aspice Domine by Antonio Morari — Lyrics
About Aspice Domine
Aspice Domine is a sacred motet by Antonio Morari for SAATTB choir. The text, in Latin, opens with a plea from the Book of Lamentations: 'Look, Lord, from your holy throne, and think of us; incline your ear and hear; open your eyes and see our affliction.' The second part continues this supplication, asking God to 'Look, Lord, from your sanctuary and from the high heavenly dwellings.' Morari’s setting, with its rich texture for double choir, responds to the text’s urgent and sorrowful prayer with profound devotional intensity. This motet is a powerful expression of communal lament and a direct appeal to the divine.
