About As it began to dawn

Charles H. Bochau sets a powerful Easter text in this SATB anthem. The music opens with the poignant scene of Mary Magdalene and the other Mary approaching the tomb, only to hear the angel's joyous proclamation that Jesus has risen. The composer moves from the quiet solemnity of the discovery to the exultant declaration "Fear not ye; For I know that ye seek Jesus, He is not here, He is risen." The anthem builds to a triumphant "Sing unto God, O ye kingdoms of the earth, Sing praises unto the Lord. Hallelujah, Amen.", making it an uplifting choice for services celebrating the Resurrection.
