ANIMA MEA LAUDA DOMINO

"Anima Mea Lauda Domino" is a vibrant Latin entrance hymn that calls the soul to praise God. Written by Rev. Fr. Okwy Tony Umeh, the piece opens with a joyful, polyphonic refrain where the voices weave together the words of Psalm 146, urging the soul to lift its voice in worship. In the choir loft, the sopranos carry a clear, soaring melody while the lower voices echo and support them, creating a bright and welcoming sound for the start of Mass.

The verses draw on various Psalms, moving from a call to sing to God ("Cantate Deo") to heartfelt pleas for God's ear and refuge ("Inclina ad me aurem tuam").
